Conference on Security and Privacy for the Internet of Things @ Princeton University
Oct 21 @ 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

The Internet of Things (IoT) presents opportunities for innovation in domains ranging from smart homes to smart cities. Yet, many IoT devices ship with security flaws that put citizens and consumers at risk, which creates broad issues surrounding the privacy, security, and robustness of IoT. Additionally, the proliferation of IoT devices allows device vendors to collect—and potentially share—an unprecedented amount of data about consumers.

Solutions to these emerging challenges around IoT will require input and collaboration from technologists and policymakers. The CITP Conference on Security and Privacy Policy for the Internet of Things (IoT) will convene experts at the intersection of technology and policy from industry, academia, and civil society to discuss the latest security and privacy issues for the Internet of Things.

For lunch and a nametag please register by Monday, October 17, 2016. If you register after October 17th, you will not be included in the food counts, but please feel free to still attend the conference.

Building a Privacy Governance Program @ Webinar
Oct 21 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

The proliferation of networked devices is bringing tremendous opportunity to business and consumers alike. Many organizations are struggling with where to start with securing their enterprise — so some don’t, or worse yet, take expensive action that has little impact.

Consumers freely share their personal information with businesses, governments, individuals and on social media platforms expecting progressive, personalized services while demanding and deserving privacy and control of their personal information.

Make sure to save your seat for this webinar to learn how to:

  1. Put security and privacy into the context of your operations – despite their natural tensions
  2. Integrate them into an effective data protection program focused on trust, transparency and accountability
  3. Examine case studies from two companies from very diverse sectors

Register NOW for this webinar to explore the essential common elements of an effective data protection program and some tips for getting your program up and running quickly.

*Can’t make the webinar? Register anyway! We’ll send you a followup email with the slides and recording after the webinar!*

Preparing for the GDPR: Attaining and Demonstrating Compliance
Nov 3 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am

Free IAPP Web Conference

How will you comply with the GDPR? What approach will you take? What resources will you need and where will they come from?

Join us for this virtual discussion to hear an accountability approach for attaining and maintaining GDPR compliance through the “appropriate technical and organizational measures” required by Article 24. Help your organization get a running start by: understanding what accountability infrastructure is in place, identifying the gaps needing remediation, creating strategies for prioritizing; and then knowing how to resource activities that will enable and maintain GDPR compliance. Also to be covered — how existing technical and organizational measures can be mapped to GDPR articles to help achieve another obligation found in Article 24, and, “the ability to demonstrate that processing is performed in accordance with the Regulation.”

What you’ll take away:

  • How to identify the “appropriate technical and organizational measures” required by Article 24.
  • How to address the accountability requirements in the GDPR.
  • An approach to meet the obligation found in Article 24, “the ability to demonstrate that processing is performed in accordance with the Regulation.”
