The theme of this conference is Surveillance Beyond Borders and Boundaries. The theme is broad in the sense that we understand borders and boundaries as both literal and metaphoric. It is meant to capture how surveillance operates on and beyond territorial borders as well as the many ways that data flows today challenge boundaries between institutions and disciplines. We call for papers and panels from all areas of critical enquiry that seek to examine such complex articulations and impacts of surveillance in contemporary society. We invite participants to discuss, develop or demolish the borders and boundaries of surveillance. In particular, we welcome interventions that are truly interdisciplinary, multi- disciplinary, or transdisciplinary in scope and reach, from academics, activists, artists, and policy-makers, especially those who sit on the borderlands between academia and practice-based knowledge production.

ENISA’s Annual Privacy Forum (APF) is to be held on the 13th and 14th June 2018 in Barcelona, in co-operation with the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and Telefonica.
Call for papers for APF 2018 is now open. Submission until 30th of March 2018.
Papers presenting original work on the themes of data protection and privacy and their repercussions on technology, business, government, law, society and policy are invited. An inter-disciplinary approach is high in demand for APF2018 to contribute to bridging the gap between research, business models and policy, much like proposing new models and interpretations. APF2018 seeks contributions from policy makers and implementers, Data Protection Authorities, industry, consultants, NGOs and the civil society.
Student Papers. In order to promote participation of young researchers, the submission of papers by students is encouraged. These papers will be treated as thoroughly as full papers, but can be shorter and reflect novel thinking that might not have been fully elaborated just yet.
Short Papers. In addition to student papers, short papers are invited as this call is open to anyone who has a sketch of an idea, opinion or a call for collaboration.

This workshop is led by the 2X second place winner of the Social Engineering Capture the Flag (CTF) at DEF CON. Rachel will share her preparation techniques for competing in social engineering contests and social engineering stories from the field, along with an interactive workshop on open source intelligence (OSINT) research and application methods for conducting an effective social engineering campaign. This will include a review of how social engineers conduct research through Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), and an interactive mini-OSINT CTF with prizes for the teams who find the greatest number of flags!
Rachel is the CEO & Co-founder of SocialProof Security where she helps people and companies keep their data safe by training them on social engineering risks. Rachel also was a winner two years in a row in the DEF CON hacking conference’s Social Engineering Capture the Flag contest. In her remaining spare time, Rachel works as the Chair of the Board for the nonprofit Women in Security and Privacy (WISP) where she empowers women to lead the converging fields. After she gets to inbox zero, she watches David Lynch movies with her husband named Evan and pup named Snugs.
